Surrounded by his loving family, Mervyn passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025.
Mervyn is the devoted and loving husband of Ruth Anne for 62 wonderful years. Born in Lowville to Featherstone and Olive Colling, Mervyn was the brother of Don (Carol), Carol Haley and predeceased by younger brother Everett (Jane). Proud father of Kim (Jim), Denise (Steve), Glenn (Lisa) and Gary (Jody). Adored Grandpa to Victoria, Scott, Steven, Joshua, Mackenzie, Daniel, Caleb, Madison, Ethan, Karly and Owen. Great Grandpa to Audrey and Gregory.
Mervyn had a great passion for cars; being the successful founder of Eastside Auto Service in Oakville, racing stock cars, a proud member of the Canadian vintage modified club and a dedicated NASCAR fan. He enjoyed a rich life with family and many friends. Mervyn and Ruth Anne travelled to many beautiful places. Together they were dedicated members of Knox Presbyterian Church.
Progressive Supernuclear Palsy, a form of Parkinson’s stole the last few years of Mervyn’s otherwise healthy 85 years. Mervyn was always surrounded by the love of his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and their families. We were fortunate to have him so involved in our lives as a mentor, sounding board and cheerleader.
The Family would like to express our sincere gratitude for all the love and care Mervyn received by the staff at the Post Inn Village.
Family and friends are welcome to gather at the McKersie & Early Funeral Home, located at 114 Main Street East, Milton ON on Tuesday March 4, 2025 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm. The Funeral Service will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church, 170 Main St. E., Milton at 11am on Wednesday March 5, 2025 with a reception to follow at the church hall. ( There is an Accessibility entrance at the Mary Street entrance and there is a lift available to the lower hall for the reception for those requiring assistance )
