Obituary of Mary Christina (Tena) Smith, New Waterford
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mary Christina (Tena) Smith, age 81, on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, NS, she was a daughter of the late William James and Christina (MacNeil) Smith.
Tena is survived by her sister, Catherine Christy and brother, John Smith. For the last 28 years, Tena was surrounded by the love and care of her close friends (who were like family) at the Cape Breton Residential Society on Arthur Street in New Waterford.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025 from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford. Father Jim Oliver officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home.
