Obituary for Kum Youn Woo
January 12, 1963 – February 19, 2025
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Kum Youn Woo. She passed away at a young age of 62 peacefully at home, surrounded by her husband and sister, after a brave battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her husband, Jong Chul Woo, her two sons, Min Je and Andrew Woo and her new grandson Sky Woo.
Kum Youn was born in Seoul, South Korea where she met and married her husband in 1986. They then immigrated to Canada back in 1988 to the east coast, and subsequently to Vancouver in 2002. They were married happily for 39 years.
Her faith and family were the most important focus in Kum Youn’s life. She strived to live a life of servitude and worship to God. She worked tirelessly to support her husband’s ministry and to exemplify Biblical teachings to her two children. She loved cultivating a deeper relationship with God, walking in nature, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. There would always be laughter and joy when the whole family was gathered.
Kum Youn experienced many health-related struggles during the last few months of her life. However, she faced the daily battles with strength, determination and courage. She will be remembered as a wife, mother, sister, friend, and a servant of God. Her passing has left all of us with a profound sense of loss and sadness. She may now rest in peace, without pain and suffering.
The family invites you to leave a short message. A celebration of life will be held on February 26, 2025 at the Korean United Church of Vancouver located at 3821 Lister Street, Burnaby at 6 PM.
