C’est avec un cœur lourd et une immense tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de notre magnifique mère, Margaret « Tweets » Iris Johnson, qui nous a quittées paisiblement le matin du 17 février à 11 h 35. Elle était entourée de la lumière et de la chaleur du soleil ainsi que de l’amour de deux de ses filles et d’une petite-fille chérie à ses côtés.
Elle est née à Temiscaming, Québec, le 9 mai 1958, de sa mère Noreen Robinson et de son père James Johnson, elle a grandit dans une famille de 4 enfants à Kipawa, Québec. Elle était affectueusement appelée « Tweets » dès son jeune âge par sa famille et ses amis, cela a commencer par sa mère, car elle se réveillait chaque matin au son des oiseaux.
Tout au long de sa vie, Tweets a embrassé la beauté de la nature. Elle trouvait du réconfort en pêchant, en jardinant et en étant sur le lac Kipawa ou elle partageait souvent ses passions avec sa famille. Elle aimait cuisiner et préparer des repas pour ses enfants, ainsi que créer des objets artisanaux avec eux. Enfant, Tweets passait de nombreuses heures avec son père à porter des canots, poser des pièges et vendre des appâts, des souvenirs qu’elle chérissait profondément.
Amoureuse des plaisirs simples de la vie, elle trouvait du bonheur à chercher la lune chaque soir et savourait ses tasses quotidiennes de café Timmy’s. Tweets aimait jouer à Yahtzee, Chase the Ace et Banco, et avait un pouce vert, remplissant sa maison de plantes vibrantes. Lorsque sa capacité à profiter de l’extérieur a diminué, s’occuper de ses plantes d’intérieur lui apportait une grande joie.
Notre mère a lutté vaillamment pendant les trois dernières années de sa vie, triomphant de crises médicales que les médecins jugeaient impossibles. Nous avons été appelés à la maison quatre fois en deux ans pour lui dire adieu, mais sa force incroyable nous l’a ramenée trois fois. La quatrième fois, nous avons partagé nos derniers adieux, chérissant le miracle du temps passé avec elle. Jodie, son partenaire, et ses petits-enfants ont vécu avec elle pendant les deux dernières années, tandis que ses autres enfants lui rendaient fréquemment visite, même à 3 000 miles de distance. Angie venait souvent jouer à Yahtzee et cuisiner des repas, partageant presque chaque nuit au téléphone lors du dîner. Kasha rentrait plusieurs fois chez elle pour travailler à ses côtés et passer de précieux moments ensemble. Notre mère était toujours heureuse d’avoir son bébé à la maison. Tyler faisait plus de voyages à la maison que d’habitude, et lors de sa dernière visite à l’automne, il passait presque chaque jour quelques heures avec elle, apportant un sourire à son visage qui illuminait son esprit. Ce garçon-là a une place spéciale dans son cœur. Sa fierté à son égard brillait dans ses paroles et dans ses yeux. Tweets adorait ses petits-enfants et en était extrêmement fière. Tous ses petits-enfants ont subi une grande perte – elle était un véritable trésor pour eux.
Margaret laisse dans le deuil sa sœur aînée, Wanda Smith Johnson (Donnie); son fils, Tyler Wilbee (Chrystal Chevrier), et ses petits-enfants Zachery, Jacob, Maya et Murphy; sa fille, Angela Wilbee (Christopher Bellehemuer), et ses petits-enfants Matthew et Michael; sa fille, Jodie Wilbee Johnson (Jeremie Chaput), et ses petits-enfants Lennon, Amira, Gracie, Madison et Lincoln; sa fille, Kasha Johnson, et ses animaux, Gizmo et Falkor.
Nous invitons tous ceux qui l’ont connue et aimée à se joindre à nous pour célébrer sa vie et les magnifiques souvenirs qu’elle a créés. Son feu sacré commencera le 25 février à 18 h et se terminera le 28 février à 18 h à l’arbre sur la Première Nation Kebaowek. Tout le monde est bienvenu. Sa cérémonie commémorative aura lieu le samedi 1er mars 2025, de 12 h à 16 h, à la salle communautaire de la Première Nation Kebaowek.
Bien qu’elle ne soit plus parmi nous en corps, son esprit vivra à jamais dans nos cœurs et dans les souvenirs que nous chérissons.

It is with the heaviest of hearts and immense sadness that we share with you the passing of our beautiful Mother, Margaret “Tweets” Iris Johnson, who left this Earth peacefully on the morning of February 17th at 11:35 AM. She was surrounded by the light and warmth of the sun and the love of two of her daughters and a cherished granddaughter by her side.
She was born in Temiscaming, Quebec on May.9, 1958 to her mother Noreen Robinson and father James Johnson, growing up the youngest of 4 children in Kipawa, Quebec. She was fondly called Tweets at a young age by her family and friends, starting with her Mother, as she would awake with the sound of the birds in the early mornings.
Throughout her life, Tweet’s embraced the beauty of the outdoors. She found solace in fishing, gardening, and being on Lake Kipawa, often sharing these passions with her family. She loved to bake and cook for her children and create homemade crafts with them. As a child, Tweet’s spent countless hours with her father , portaging, trapping, and selling minnows, memories she held dear to her heart.
A true lover of life’s simple pleasures, she found happiness in looking for the moon each night, and savoring her daily (or multiple) cups of Timmy’s coffee. Tweets enjoyed playing Yahtzee, Chase the Ace, and Banco, and she had a green thumb, filling her home with vibrant plants. As her ability to enjoy the outdoors diminished, tending to her houseplants brought her great joy.
Our mother fought valiantly during the last three years of her life, triumphing over medical emergencies that doctors deemed impossible. We were called home four times in two years to say farewell, but her incredible strength brought her back to us three of those times. The fourth time, we shared our final goodbyes, cherishing the miracle of time we had with her. Jodie, her partner, and grandchildren lived with her during the last two years, while her other children made frequent visits, even from as far as 3,000 miles away. Angie often came to play Yahtzee and cook meals, sharing almost every night on the phone at supper time. Kasha traveled home numerous times to work by her side and enjoy precious moments together. Our mother was always happy to have her baby home. Tyler made more trips home than usual, and during his last visit in the fall, he spent nearly every day a few hours with her, bringing a smile to her face that illuminated her spirit. That boy of hers holds a special place in her heart. Her pride in him shone through her words and her eyes. Tweets adored her grandchildren and took immense pride in them. All her grandchildren have experienced a great loss—she was a true treasure to them.
Margaret is survived by her older sister, Wanda Smith Johnson (Donnie); her son, Tyler Wilbee (Chrystal Chevrier), and grandchildren Zachery, Jacob, Maya, and Murphy; her daughter, Angela Wilbee (Christopher Bellehemuer), and grandchildren Matthew and Michael; her daughter, Jodie Wilbee Johnson (Jeremie Chaput), and grandchildren Lennon, Amira, Gracie, Madison, and Lincoln; her daughter, Kasha Johnson, and her grandkitties, Gizmo and Falkor
We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating her life and the beautiful memories she created. Her sacred fire will begin on February 25th at 6PM and end on February 28th at 6PM at the arbour on Kebaowek First Nation . All are welcome. Her Memorial service will take place Saturday March. 1, 2025 from 12PM to 4PM at the community hall on Kebaowek First Nation.
Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever live on in our hearts and in the memories we hold dear.
