Joan’s Obituary
RITCHIE, “Joan” Marion – Age 88, born November 27, 1936 in Yarmouth to the late Delmar and Aurelia (Smith) Penney. It is with saddened hearts that we announce her passing peacefully with her family by her side.
Joan is predeceased by her son, Kevin Ritchie; brothers, Marsden, Stanley, Clyde, Lesley, Howard, Clinton and Clayton; sisters, Betty, Arlene, Irva, Doreen, Marilyn and Genevive.
Joan is survived by her loving husband, Roy Ritchie; brothers, Anderson (Valerie). Calvin (Carolyn); sisters, Jessie, Sarah, Beverly (Jean); children, Wayne (Myra), Randy (Cindy), Gary (Gisselle), Scott (Angel), Curtis (Marie), Karen (Anthony), Marlene (Masanao) and Peter (Fern); 25 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces.
Joan dedicated her life to taking care of her family that she so dearly loved. She was loved by many family members and friends. She loved her church, family, seniors club and many friends. She loved to play Bingo, go for walks and visit the Salvation army Thrift Store with Meeya by her side.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Temple Baptist Church, Yarmouth, Pastor Raymond Prichard officiating. Donations in Joan’s memory may be made to the Temple Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
