Helen Cherniawsky (Sokalski)
Helen Cherniawsky (née Sokalski), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died peacefully on January 4th, 2025, at the Edmonton General hospice unit after many visits from her large family.
Helen was born on March 4, 1929, in Vegreville, AB to Karol and Mary Sokalski. She grew up on a farm in Lavoy with her parents and her older brothers Emil and Edward. Helen married Walter Cherniawsky on July 18, 1950, and together, they had four children.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Walter; son-in-law, Michael Clark; her parents; and brothers. She is survived by her children, Caroline, David (Carla), Donald (Kathy) and Peter (Michelle); 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
