Memorial Donation
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Simms, who
went home peacefully on February 4, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by
his loving family.
Harold was born in Brigus, NL on January 14, 1946. Predeceased by his
parents, Jack and Kathleen; his brothers Johnie and Colin; sister-in-law Sandy;
and his mother-law Greta and father-in-law Fred, sister-in-law Barbara
(Evert), Daphanie, Doris (Bill), Greta (Claton), and Sheri who remains forever
in their hearts.
Harold was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Patricia, with whom he
shared a lifetime of love, partnership, and cherished memories. Together,
they built a strong and loving family that continues to carry forward his
legacy.
He was a proud and devoted father to his children; Scott (Kim), Craig (Jane),
Ian (Terri), and Cory (Melissa). He was the light of his grandchildren’s eye
Dorothy, Karla, Blake, Tyler, Annalise, Serenity, Destiny, Shaylin and Brooklyn
and great-grandson Grayson.
Harold had a lifelong passion for working at sea as an employee of DFO and
the last 30 years of the Canadian Coast Guard.
Harold is survived by his brothers Kenneth (Marie), Greg (Heidi), Steve
(Corinne) and his sisters Alice (Paddy) Ryan, Veronica, Catherine and
brothers-in-law Fred (George Ann) and Eric and many other nephews, nieces
and great nephews and nieces, who shared in the many cherished memories
of their family’s upbringing.
The family would like to extend a special acknowledgment to his care givers
Margaret Harrington and Holly Gillingham and in the last year and half to the
staff on the 4 th floor south of the Private Josiah Squibb Memorial Pavilion.
Your unwavering support and care meant the world to him and will always
be remembered with gratitude.
Visitation will take place on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 10:00am – 7:00pm.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held on February 8, 2025, at 2:00 P.M.
from Broughton’s Memorial Chapel, Brigus. In lieu of flowers, the family asks
that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Societies.
