It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Germain Desroches with his family by his side at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on December 31, 2024 at the age of 81 years.
Germain was the beloved husband of 60 years to his wife Rita (nee Jodouin). He will be sadly missed by his 4 children Richard (Aline), Donald, Teresa (Roger Sr. – deceased) and Patricia Deforge (Pierre). Germain will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Roger Jr. (Chum), Lynn, Jessica and Vincent, 11 great grandchildren & 3 adopted great grandchildren.
Germain is also survived by his brother Marcel. He was predeceased by his parents Roger Desroches and Delissa Dagenais and by his 5 sisters Margerite, Florence, Mireille, Colette & Georgette as well as 6 brothers Louis Sr., Gerard, Francois, Gilbert, Raymond & Jean.
Germain will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Germain was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #599.
In his lifetime he fathered many foster children with the Children’s Aid Society and his wife. He loved playing darts, crib and bowling. He was a heavy equipment operator all his life until he retired.
As per Germain’s wishes there will be no visitation. A celebration of his life will be held at the Legion Branch #599 at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association.
