George Roger
Mansour, 74, died March 7, 2025, at his home in Kolbec,
NS. George was born on February 22, 1951, in Amherst, NS, son of the
late Theo and Alexandra (Khoury) Mansour.
George graduated from Amherst Regional
High School and attended King’s College in Halifax. He was
an excellent golfer and gardener, enjoyed shooting pool, and loved
summers at Amherst Shore. He worked at Mansour’s Menswear.
As a young man, George enjoyed travel to the US, and especially an
extended trip to Lebanon to meet his many relatives.
Despite an adulthood of health
challenges, George found joy in his family, good food, and music. His
amazing memory and his dry wit were legendary. For over
twenty years he resided at Cumberland Community Homes in Kolbec where
he was cared for by a committed, skilled, and respectful staff, all of
whom appreciated and loved George. There was much good-natured
teasing, singing, and laughing. The staff and housemates were
George’s second family.
George will be dearly missed by his
brother Robert (Deanne Fitzpatrick), Brookdale, N.S.; nephew, Mikhial,
Amherst; and niece Adele, Halifax; sisters, Jeanette (Alex Kajka),
Rosedale, California; and Valerie (Douglas Blackmore),
Halifax.
Arrangements are under the care and
guidance of the Jones Family Funeral
Centre, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS
(902-667-8777). A family funeral will be held at the Christ
Church, Amherst. Burial will take place in the Christ Church
Cemetery in the spring.
