It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Howatt on March 23, 2025 at the age of 92. George was born and grew up in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He moved to Toronto, Ontario in the early 1950s. George was a hard-working man and was employed by Purolator Courier from the 1970s until his retirement. George was involved in his church, St. Joseph’s Parish. He enjoyed travelling, golf, talking to his friends and neighbours but most of all his lifelong passion was the horse races. George always had a smile on his face and was easy-going.
George is survived by his wife Mary Howatt (Gillis), and missed dearly by his seven children; Bradley, Cynthia (Louis) Bruce, Robert (Julie), Joel (Kelly), Mary (Christopher), Elizabeth (Jerry). Proud Grandpa to Jacqueline, Paula, Jessica, Daniel, Brendan, Colton, Justin, Alyssa, Molly, Alexander and Brayden. Proud Great-Grandpa to Rory, Luna, Barrett and Mia. George will always be deeply missed by his sisters, Velma (Gordon), and Teresa (Kenneth). He was predeceased by his beloved parents Frank and Mary Howatt (O’Toole) and his siblings Richard (Maria), James, Frances (Abe), Audrey and John. Loved by his many nieces and nephews.
George’s wishes were to be cremated and his ashes scattered at his happy place, back home in Prince Edward Island.
