Durley, Elizabeth “Betty”,
age 86, of Afton, Antigonish County passed away on
February 13, 2025 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital,
Antigonish.
Born in
Westville, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Elizabeth
(MacDonald) MacLaughlin and was chosen daughter of the late David and
Clara Levangie.
Betty’s faith was important to her. She was a
dedicated member of St. Peter’s Parish and an active member
of the Ladies Auxiliary of Tracadie and District Volunteer Fire
Department. Betty worked as a custodian retiring
from St. F.X. Cleaning Services. She enjoyed camping, and loved going
to dances and country jamborees. Betty will be remembered as a devoted
wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and
friend.
She is
survived by her husband of fifty-five years, Francis; children:
Debbie, Afton; Frank (Kathy), Frankville; grandchildren: Frank and
Ashley; great granddaughter, McKenna; best friend, Linda Bennett and
several nieces and nephews.
She was
predeceased by her daughter, Lisa; grandson, Steven; sister, Donna and
brothers John and
Jimmy.
Visitation
will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on
Monday, February 17, 2025 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral
Mass will be in St. Peter’s Church, Tracadie on Tuesday at
11:00 am with Father John Barry presiding. Burial in the
parish cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory may be
made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Palliative Dept. or
