Dorothy Pettigrew
Pettigrew, Dorothy Roberta – Age 94, Kentville. The family of Dorothy Roberta Pettigrew announce her peaceful passing on January 27, 2025, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville.
Dorothy is survived by sisters, Evelyn Creelman and Elizabeth Sutherland, both of Halifax; brothers, Darrell (Joyce), Petitcodiac, NB and Hedley, Springhill as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Flossie (Mills) Sutherland and siblings, Mabel, Madeline, Addison, Victor, Leota, Florence, Agnes, Elson and Ralph; siblings in infancy, Ervin and Bruce. If you were counting, this makes fifteen brothers and sisters for Dorothy!
Dorothy enjoyed playing in “Crib” tournaments and Bingo. She was very particular about how she looked and loved to wear bright, flashy colours. She was very meticulous when it came to her yard and gardens. Dorothy especially loved Christmas, travelling and going on cruises.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dorothy’s Home Care workers and the staff of Valley Regional Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6th at 2pm in Colchester Community Funeral home, 512 Willow St., Truro, NS. Minister Marty Clark-Ettinger officiating. Webcasting of the service will begin at 1:58pm (AST). Burial in Spring 2025 in Riverside United Church Cemetery, Bass River.
