Dorothea Roswyn Wanda “Dottie” Knockwood
2025-2025
Dorothea (Dottie) Roswyn Wanda Knockwood, cherished infant
daughter of Billy (of Charlottetown) and Kassandra Knockwood
(née Gavin-Henry, of Georgetown), passed away February 23rd
2025 in the arms of her parents at 20 days old. Dottie was born
prematurely at the IWK at 32 weeks 2 days, and had been diagnosed with
a congenital heart defect during pregnancy. Dottie was so strong,
vibrant, and showed her personality to her parents during their 20
days together.
The name Dorothea is said to mean “Gift of God”.
Dottie was our joy, our rainbow baby, and is so loved. She was
preceded in death by her brother Bennett Ellery James Knockwood and
uncle Lukas Real Frederick Gavin. In addition to her parents and big
brother Henry she is survived by maternal grandparents; Percy and
Wanda Henry (Gavin-Henry) of Georgetown; Paternal Grandparents- Carol
Knockwood (Bruce) of Charlottetown; Todd and Tania Knockwood of
Scotchfort. Uncles Bradley Knockwood, Richard Henry and Ray Knockwood.
Aunts Carmen Henry, Lucy Knockwood, Kellie Young (Henry) and Norah
Knockwood.
We would like to invite everyone who was touched by
Dottie’s story to her wake and funeral service at the
community Chapel in Scotchfort as so many of our loved ones never had
the chance to meet our precious baby girl. It would mean so much to us
to be able to share our joy in her life and celebrate her strength
through something so challenging.
Dottie’s family are accepting flower donations for
Dottie’s wake and funeral service. The family would like a
rainbow of bright coloured flowers at Dottie’s wake as a way
to celebrate their rainbow baby.
“A rainbow baby is a
term for a baby that’s born after the parents have a pregnancy loss.
The name draws on the symbol of the rainbow, representing beauty after
a dark time.”
Billy and Kassandra want to sincerely thank the IWK NICU
staff, Dottie and Kassandra’s nurses, the neonatal
NP’s, Respiratory Therapists, Neonatologists, Cardiologists,
maternal fetal medicine doctors and every other person who had a hand
in her care. The kindness, compassion and generosity of our care teams
and our community have given us so much comfort through
everything.
Transferred from the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown
Funeral Home to the community Chapel at Scotchfort for visitation on
Monday, March 3, 2025 from 1 – 3 p.m. Followed by the Funeral Mass at
the community Chapel at 3 p.m. Interment later.
