Doris Emma Bahm Obituary
Our beloved mom, Doris Bahm, passed away on March 4, 2025. She was 91 years old. Mom was born on April 24, 1933, on the Nustlin River in the Yukon. She was the oldest of 11 children born to Andrew and Maude Smith. Mom was a residential school survivor. She was hard-working, strong-willed and independent. She was fiercely loyal to her family and close friends and had a mischievous sense of humor.
Mom grew up in the Yukon. Her early years were spent working with her dad trapping, hunting and helping to run his Outfitters business. At the age of 21, she left the Yukon and went to Fort St. John where she worked as a care aide in the hospital. This is where she met Dad, Pius; the love of her life. They returned to the Yukon in 1959 where they were married. They remained there until 1994 when they moved to Dawson Creek, B.C. They had four beautiful children. Three sons Gerald, George, Craig and one daughter, Maryann. Together they raised their children with love. Mom worked as a short order cook and campground attendant, but not until her children were older. The job she loved the most was being a wife and mother.
Mom loved anything to do with the outdoors like hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and berry picking. She especially loved doing it with her family. Other hobbies included her traditional sewing and bead work, painting, word searches, colouring, swimming and walking. She also loved to curl and enjoyed watching it on television in her later years. She was also involved in the walking club and hospital auxiliary in Dawson Creek.
She is predeceased by her Husband Pius; parents Andrew and Maude; sisters and brother-in-laws, Pansy (Bill), Jane (Doug), Patricia (Pat), Carol (Bill), Gloria (Earl), Lucky Ann; and brother Edward (Liz).
Mom is fondly remembered by her children Gerald (Erin), Maryann (Mark), George (Vanessa), Craig (Erin); grandchildren Andrew (Ellen), Callum (Amber), Dustin (Hannah), Tanner, Ashton (Flurin), Allison (Cody); brother Philip; sister Clara; brother-in-law Tim; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Doris will held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 2:00 pm from Reynars Funeral Chapel, Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Father Vener will officiate. Doris will be laid to rest with her husband Pius, in the Dawson Creek City Cemetery immediately following the service.
