In Loving Memory of Diane Christine Holinshead (Baker)
December 30, 1961 – December 31, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Diane Christine Holinshead (Baker) on Tuesday December 31st, 2024, at her residence. She had just celebrated her 63rd birthday. Born on December 30, 1961, in Parry Sound, Ontario, Diane spent much of her life in Sudbury, Ontario, where she built a home filled with love, warmth, and cherished memories. Diane worked for many years as a cashier at Loeb IGA on Brady Street before later becoming a dietary aide at Extendicare York. Her kindness and laughter touched the lives of everyone she worked with.
Outside of work, Diane found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved to bake, play baseball, and dance; she was always ready for a spirited game of Bingo. Camping trips, walks, and cheering on her son and grandchildren at hockey and ringette games were among her favorite pastimes. Her enthusiasm for life and her love for her family shone through in everything she did.
Diane will be deeply missed by her children, Jennifer (Richard), Tara (Neil), and Jody, as well as her beloved grandchildren: Kohen, Addisyn, Lukas, Mackenzie, Ty, Emmett, and Spencer. She is survived by her mother, Rochelle Baker, her father, Chancey Baker (predeceased) and her siblings, Dale (Lou) and Dennis (Louise). Diane is also survived by David Holinshead, whom she shared over 30 years of her life with, raising their 3 children. Diane will be missed greatly by her family, friends, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Despite life’s challenges and struggles, Diane remained resilient, always holding on to hope and never giving up. Her boundless love for her children and grandchildren gave her the strength and courage to keep living each day.
Her passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
“Goodbyes are not forever; Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you, until we meet again”.
Family and friends are invited to an informal gathering to honor and share cherished memories of Diane. This will take place on Thursday, January 16th, 2025, from 6pm-9pm at The Hilton Garden Inn, “Kingsway Room” 475 Barrydowne Road, Sudbury, ON.
