David Gregory Mayer passed away at Blackfalds, Alberta on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the age of 27 years. David was born on December 5, 1997 at Red Deer, Alberta. David enjoyed being outdoors. Fishing was his absolute favourite pastime, whether it was the peace of being alone, out with a casting buddy, or showing the kids how it was done. David had a mischievous smile that always left you curious who was the next recipient to receive his joke or off the cuff remark. David was the youngest of three children and sadly left this world far too young, due to his struggles with mental health. He was kind, compassionate and would lend a helping hand to whomever was in need. He had many friends and acquaintances, but he cherished a select few. Those bonds were very special and cherished by David. Bonds that would never be broken. David loved animals, especially his ‘girl’ Maggie, also known as “pretty girl,” and Max (his current puppy dog). David was a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. David will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Annette Mayer (Richard Cunningham); his brother, Justin Mayer (Stephanie); his sister, Kayla Mayer (Brody); his niece, Ivy Mayer; his nephews, Elijah and Wyatt Mayer; his maternal grandmother, Judy Akitt; his paternal grandmother, Maxine Mayer; his aunts and uncles, Jim (Mel), Curtis (Shaunna), Gary (Shelley), Carmen (Terry) and Martina (Pat,) as well as numerous family members and dear friends. David was predeceased by his father, Michael Mayer; and his grandfathers, Ken Stoller and Robert Akitt. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in David’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association at www.cmhareddeer.ca.
