Obituary of Cindy McFarlane
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Cindy Ann McFarlane announce her passing at the Sus Health Centre after a long and courageous battle on February 12, 2025 at the age of 61.
Born in Sus; she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Laverne (Mason) Kirk.
Cindy was the epitome of love. She loved with her whole heart and she wore her heart on her sleeve for all to see. Once she got to know you, you were in. You were automatically part of the family. Just as she took in every one of her clients. She wanted them to feel loved and included. Family was everything to Cindy and she loved to be surrounded by people.
She had a heart of gold and loved life, singing and dancing – spreading her love as much as she could. She loved to cook and in turn that meant she was always up to making pies and rolls, even at the last minute, because she just loved to feed people.
St Martin’s was her happy place, she didn’t care what she had to do to get there, or how long she had to drive. Fifteen minutes on the beach and she was at peace again. She loved to gather sea glass, rocks and shells and she always looked forward to adding things to her Aunt Deana’s work of art.
She was a ‘little stubborn’ and a just a smidge high maintenance. She had a passion for shopping and even more so for being pampered. Make up and nails were a must and her eyebrows always had to be on point. Cindy always had to have the final say, especially when telling a story. She will be deeply missed by her entire “FAMILY” and all those she adopted along the way.
She will live on in the hearts of the love of her life, Stephen McFarlane; her stepdaughter, Casey McFarlane; her granddaughter, Maggie; her sisters: Shelly O’Donnell and her husband Davey of Norton and Sherry Roy and her husband Marc of Sus; her brother, Derek Kirk and his partner Melanie of Bouctouche; her mother-in-law, Darlene McFarlane of Sus; her brothers-in-law: Eldon McFarlane and his wife Dianne of Waterford and Kenneth McFarlane and his wife Darlene of Jeffries Corner; her sisters-in-law: Kim Kirk of Saint John, Betty Murray and her husband Brian of Jemseg, Effie Thorne and her husband Philip of Sus, Dawn Adair and her husband Paul of Hammondvale Kim Kirk of Baxters Corner and Sheryle McFarlane and George of Apohaqui; her nieces and nephews: Colton, Natasha, Heather, Ashley, Madison, Nicole, Amanda, Bailey, Sarah, Angela, Denise, Jody, Mark, Chris, Shawn, Trevor, Jeff, Brad, Kim, David, Michael, Jason, Andrew, Kevin and Chelsea; her great nieces: Nova, Vanna, and Chloe; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins and children who were very near and dear to her.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her maternal grandparents: Donald and Anna (Miller) Mason; her paternal grandparents: Arthur and Grace (Colpitts) Kirk; her stepson, Nik McFarlane; her brother: Robbie Kirk and by her nieces and nephews: Adam Kirk, Miranda O’Donnell, Shannon McFarlane and Jamie McFarlane.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025 from 1-3 and 6-8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11:00am.
Donations to Shriner’s, Crosswinds or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Donations and personal condolences to the family may be made through www.wallacefuneralhome.com
