Catherine Angela (Butt) Chambers
With heavy hearts and deep love, we share the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Aunt, and Nana, Catherine “Cathy” Angela Chambers, of Morrin, AB on September 9, 2025, at Foothills Hospital, surrounded by the family she cherished so dearly.
Cathy was born on May 29, 1953, in Drumheller, AB, to Angela Maria (Cardamone) Gieck and Charles Edward Butt. She was the first of three children, later joined by her brothers Ed and Tony. From the beginning, Cathy’s life was rooted in family, love, and community — values she carried with her every step of the way.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 48 years, Robert (Bob) William Chambers, with whom she built a life filled with laughter, resilience, and unconditional love. Together, they raised three children — Mark (Kadena), Christopher (Deanna), and Melanie (Ryan) Monaco — who will forever carry her wisdom, warmth, and gentle strength in their hearts. Cathy was a proud and adoring Nana to her eight grandchildren: Kerric, Kaelin, Brennen, Stryker, Tyson, Julia, Tanner, and Connor, each of whom was a source of great joy and pride.
Cathy is also survived by her brother Tony Butt, nieces & nephews, Jenna Butt (Malachi & Cali), Michael Butt, Tyler (Amy, Brayden & Mateya) and Brittany Butt and numerous cousins, and their family, all of whom were touched by her kindness and generosity. She will be lovingly remembered by her in-laws: Norman (Margaret) Chambers, Carol Kashuba, Jeanette (James) Sutherland, and Dennis (Debbie) Chambers, along with their families.
Cathy found joy in the simple things that brought people together. She loved playing canasta, meeting friends or family for coffee or a meal to celebrate birthdays or just to catch up, working on her beautiful cross-stitch projects, getting lost in a good book, and traveling with friends and family. Taking her grandchildren on a trip for the 10th birthday to either Victoria, BC or Toronto, ON. Her favorite memories were made on winter vacations to Mexico, where the sun, laughter, and time with loved ones filled her heart.
Cathy is predeceased by her parents, Charles Edward Butt (1997) and Angela Maria (Cardamone) Geick (2014), her brother Charles (Ed) Edward Butt (2024), her in-laws William Arthur Chambers (1988) and Margaret Jeanette (Wallace) Chambers (2004), and brother-in-law Stephen Kashuba(2016).
Cathy’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and a heart that always made room for others. She had a gift for making everyone feel at home, and her presence lit up family gatherings, whether through her laughter, her stories, or the care she poured into every detail.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Foothills ICU team of doctors and surgical staff for their tireless efforts and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Morrin Historical Society in Morrin, AB, or to a charity close to your heart. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church. The family invites everyone to join them for a time of fellowship following the mass at the St. Anthony’s Hall.
Though she is gone from our sight, Cathy’s love will forever surround us, and her spirit will live on in the lives she touched so deeply.
