With heavy hearts, we share the unexpected passing of our beloved brother, father, grandfather, and uncle, Bryant, on February 6, 2025, in Thunder Bay, ON.
Born on July 30, 1962, Shap grew up in Northern Ontario, where his most cherished memories were of his youth in Ferland. As a young man, he moved to Toronto and worked as a lineman with Toronto Hydro, a profession he was proud of. In 1995, he returned to Thunder Bay to be closer to family.
He was predeceased by his stepfather Andy in June 2000, his niece Carrie-Marie in October 2010, his nephew Paul in November 2018, and his beloved mother in February 2020 – a loss he felt deeply every day since. Now, they are all reunited once more.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved children, Cecil (Mariah), twins Bryson and Breanna, and his grandson, Alex. He will be deeply missed by his siblings, Dawn (John), Frances (Ira), Leslie (Lisa), and his nephews, Casimir, Caelan, and Tyler, and his nieces, Kristen and Misty. His family will always think of him fondly whenever they hear the phrase, “Oh man!” – a phrase that will forever bring a smile to their faces.
“Another limb has fallen from the family tree, to which it says, “Grieve not for me.”
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was still strong.”
Rest easy Shap, knowing you were loved and will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
He is also survived by his brother, Paul, and family.
