Bill (Vasilios) passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at University Hospital, London in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Tasia Staikos (1999). Dear father of John Staikos and George Staikos (Margaret Strybosch). Dear Papou of Mathew, Madeleine, William, Samuel, William, and Christina. Bill will be missed by his daughter-in-law Kim Hobbs, siblings Sotiro and Agello. His close nephews Theo (Maria) and Peter (Peggy) Mastorakos have also lost a loving uncle.
Bill was born in the small village of Marina, Greece in 1931 and was the loving son of John Staikos and Athanasia (née Dimitropoulos) and later Amalia (née Kostadinopoulos). He immigrated to Canada in 1962 along with his spouse Tasia Staikos where they settled in London, Ontario. Bill was a tireless worker in the construction trade for several decades and instilled and inspired a strong work ethic in his sons. As a father and Papou, he was a gentle and caring man who loved to dote on his grandchildren and hear all about their accomplishments.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. A funeral service will be conducted at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 131 Southdale Road West, London on Monday, March 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery, London. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bills memory can be made to the St. Josephs Healthcare Foundation.
