Woods-Chisholm, Benjamin
2003-2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Benjamin Woods-Chisholm, at the age of 21 years. A third-year student at Carleton University, studying Computer Science Software Engineering. Beloved son of Sarah-Jane Woods and Paul Chisholm. Cherished grandson of the late Brian and the late Rae Woods (née Tanton) and Mary Chisholm (née MacDougall) and the late Donald Chisholm. Adored nephew of Alexander Woods, Martha (née Woods) and Stanley Mills, Peter Chisholm, Erin Chisholm (Claude Emard). Loving cousin of Emma Mills (Jacob O’Hara), Gregory Mills, Cameron Chisholm (Mary-Ellen Coutsoumbes), Colin Chisholm (Victoria Drybrough) and Hannah Chisholm. Honourary nephew of Christine Welch and André White. Benjamin will be greatly missed by many great- aunts, great-uncles, cousins and many friends.
Benjamin is a kind, compassionate, and selfless young man who touches the lives of everyone who knows him.
He is a devoted son, always looking after his mother with unwavering love and care. His gentle heart extends to his beloved cats—Jellybean, Chester, Mo—whom he took under his wing and cherishes deeply and the late Henry.
Benjamin has a passion for cooking from scratch, barbecuing a good steak and finding joy in creating meals for those he loves. He is also an avid gamer, guitar player, solver of Rubik’s cubes and robotics enthusiast with Cornwall’s Robotics Club. He enjoys golf and hockey. He is loved by the students of Eamer’s Corners Public School where he was an occasional supply teacher. When attending Holy Trinity Catholic High School, he was very involved in the tech crew.
His cousins, more like siblings, will forever hold dear the countless memories they shared. His friends, who became his second family, will remember his kindness, humour, and the warmth of his presence.
Benjamin’s family invites all family and friends to gather for a time of visitation and remembrance on Friday, March 7th, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, ON (613-938-3888). A funeral service will be held at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8th, 2025.
In honour of his memory the family invites you to consider making a contribution to the Ontario SPCA Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry.
Benjamin’s loss leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who love him.
Though gone far too soon, his spirit will live on in the memories and love he shared with us all.
Benjamin, we love you to the moon and beyond and back.
-i didn’t love you –
i didn’t love you
i love you still.
in the present tense.
in the here and now.
in this breath and the next.
you are not gone from my heart
nor will you ever be.
just because this earth no longer
holds your body, doesn’t mean
that our souls are not entwined.
we are mingling every day.
joined at the horizon of
this world and the next.
you weren’t – you are.
you didn’t – you do.
you can never be erased.
