Obituary of Alwin Zerb
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alwin Zerb of Point de Bute, NB on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at the age of 83. Alwin passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side.
Born on March 10, 1941 in Dorheim, Germany, he was the son of the late Christel Knopp and Hermann Zerb, as well as stepson to Gerhard Henklemann.
Alwin came to Canada in 1986 with his family and operated the Schnitzel Haus with his wife in Aulac for 30 years before retiring in 2016. Alwin loved to fish and was talented in woodworking and home renovation. He was a great man, family oriented and loved by all of his family and friends. Alwin will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Alwin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Hannelore Zerb (Fassauer); his two children, Michael Holger (Janice) and Alexandra (Kari), his three grandchildren, Bianca, Gabrièle and Erich, as well as by his three great-granddaughters. Alwin is also survived by his older brother, Wilfred (Margot) and two nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his favorite aunt, Amalie.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville N.B. (506) 364-8188. In keeping with Alwin’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visiting hours or funeral service. The burial will take place in the Point de Bute Cemetery at a later date.
If so desired, donations in memory of Alwin may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Parkinson Canada or to the charity of one’s choice.
