Jean Ivy Arnold
Making memories from January 20, 1934 to November 25, 2024
Jean was born January 20, 1934 in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. She was the fifth youngest child of 12 to James and Mary Lee. She grew up on a farm near Sylvania, Saskatchewan. Jean grew up in a large family and developed close relationships with her siblings.
She attended Teachers College in Saskatoon, and her first teaching position was in Valparaiso, Saskatchewan where she met her future husband, Ted. They were married on August 12, 1957 and made their home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. They had four children, Cindy, Darcy, Wendy and Teddy.
Jean’s teaching career took place in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and Nakusp, BC.
It was very important to Jean that her children had a strong connection with their grandparents and extended family. Many trips were made to the farms of grandparents and aunts and uncles.
The cabin at East Trout Lake was a special place to Jean and Ted. They picked berries, went fishing, enjoyed walks, did renovations, and watched the sunsets together every night. It was a place for family to relax and be together.
Jean also enjoyed her time on the farm at Zenon Park. She created many flower gardens there and appreciated the natural beauty of the old farm site
Jean had many hobbies. They included sewing, card making, chocolate making, gardening, playing cards, Yahtzee, spending time with her grandchildren, reading, family dinners, canning, jam making, picking berries, her angel collection, and going for a drive that usually ended with a stop at the Dairy Queen.
Jean had special way of showing her love, pouring her heart into creating personalized cards for everyone in the family, each one a keepsake of her thoughtfulness and caring.
She loved gardening, spending hours tending to her flowers and taking pride in the beauty she brought to her surroundings.
Countless late nights were spent at her sewing machine creating clothing for the kids from pajamas to special outfits for family events.
Left to cherish Jeans memory is her loving husband Ted of 67 years, her children Cindy, (Murray) Hagen, Darcy (Ken) Wanstall, Wendy Tennant, Ted Arnold Jr.
Her Grandchildren: Leanne Hamilton, Owen Hagen, Cassandra Tennant, Brent (Leigha) Wanstall, Mark Tennant, Mike (Caitlyn) Wanstall, Lori Tennant (Phil).
Her Great Grandchildren: Raiden Sommerfeld, Sylas Sommerfeld, Lily Wanstall, Jasper Wanstall, Lainey Wanstall.
Jean is lovingly remembered by her sibling, Raymond Lee, sister-in-law, Jenny Lee, brother-in- law, Clarence Reed, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Terry and Hazel Arnold as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family celebration of life was held on December 3 in Nakusp, BC.
