Obituary of Kathy Mae Rude
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Kathy Mae Rude (nee Ward) on January 16, 2025, at the Olds Hospital at the age of 73.
Kathy was born on December 7, 1951, in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, to parents Howard and Annie Ward. She was raised in Flaxcombe, SK, along with her three dear sisters and one brother. In Kathy’s early teen years, her family moved to Cereal, Alberta.
On July 26, 1969, Kathy married the love of her life, Wayne Rude. They were blessed with two children: Don and Jody.
Over the years Kathy was a full-time mom but also worked at the Cereal Hospital. Later in life they moved to Stettler, Alberta and she worked at Willow Creek Lodge. She was widely known and respected where she worked and in the community. Kathy and Wayne decided to start their own consulting business in the oil and gas industry and they named their business “Kway Enterprises” … after Kathy as is was ALWAYS Kathy’s way when running the business!
In 2019, Kathy and Wayne decided to move to Olds, Alberta to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She resided in Olds up until her passing.
She will be dearly missed by her son Don (Kim) and daughter Jody (Dave); grandchildren: Brandon and Tyler; sister Sally Pederson; sister-in-law Ruth Ward (Dean); brother-in-law Doug Aitken and numerous special family members.
As per Kathy’s wishes, an immediate family gathering will be held at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Kathy can be made directly to Diabetes Canada, 1300-522 University Ave., Toronto, ON, M5G 2R5 or the Canadian Lung Association, 885 Meadowlands Dr., Suite 502 Ottawa ON., K2C 3N2.
