Yvonne Delphine DeGroot
June 27, 1938 – May 4, 2023
Our hearts are broken to announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Yvonne DeGroot, affectionately known as Mom, Mumzie or Gramma Yvonne to everyone, passed away following a brief illness during the early hours of Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the age of 84 years.
Yvonne was born and raised in Sylvan Lake and for the most part, she resided within Central Alberta. With a great love for travel, Yvonne spent time in Egypt, Greece, Kuwait and travelled all over the United States. When near home, she truly enjoyed the outdoors; camping at Strubel Lake and dropping a line in the water was amongst her favorite pastimes. Above all, Yvonne’s greatest joy was cooking for a crowd, surrounded by her treasured family and friends.
Yvonne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jackie (Dennis, deceased), Brad (Wendy) and Michael; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Wes (Lorraine); numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
She is predeceased by her husband, Bill; son, Brian; brothers, Dewey and George and sister, Lillian.
Yvonne’s life will be celebrated from the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #212, 4916 50 Avenue, Sylvan Lake, Alberta on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.
