Peacefully at the Chatham Kent Hospice on Tuesday March 14, 2023. Wilhelmina Catharina Franssen, beloved wife of the late Joseph Franssen (1998).
Wilhelmina was born in The Netherlands in 1942 to the late Maria (Hagelaars) and Hermanus Arends. She immigrated to Canada in 1968.
Loving mother of Herman (Terri) Franssen, Anita Franssen, and Nicole Franssen-Boughner (Wayne Tremblett). Predeceased by her son-in-law, the late Todd Boughner. Cherished Oma of Robin Dumont (Ryatt), Clair Boughner (Kyle), Joseph Franssen, Martin Boughner, Brieanna Franssen, Lydia Boughner, and Anderson Boughner. Super Oma to Peyton Dumont.
Wilma will be greatly missed by her sister Gerrie (Jan) VanZoggel, Mia (the late Bert) VanDenBerk and Frans (Gonny) Arends.
Predeceased by 2 brothers, Arthur (Marten DeHaan) and Albert (Gerrie) Arends, all from The Netherlands.
Loved by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, both in Canada and The Netherlands. “Miss Wilma” has touched the hearts and lives of many children during over 40 years of home daycare.
Friends and relatives may visit at Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Thursday March 16, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday March 17, 2023 at 10 am in Blessed Sacrament Church.
Interment will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated.
