Walter (Wally) Galagan, 83, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on April 11, 2023 while on a walk on a lovely spring day.
Walter is survived by his wife, Gail, of 59 years.
He leaves to mourn his children, daughter Sherry; sons Sean (Wendy) and Glenn; grandchildren Ben and Jolene; sister-in-law Joan; many nieces and nephews, especially his favourite niece Eleanor; sister-in-law June; and Gail’s cousins who he enjoyed golfing and going to dinner with.
He is predeceased by his parents, Roman and Dora; mother-in-law Jean; sister Emily and Mike; brother Mike and Rusty; sister Zella; sister Mary and Andy; brother Russell; and niece Genivieve and her husband Don.
Walter was born in Winnipeg to Roman and Dora Galagan on September 23, 1939.
He attended Tec Voc High School. He was a Winnipeg Fire Fighter for 36 years. He was active in sports all his life, swimming and diving in his younger years.
Walter loved hunting, fishing and hanging out with the guys. He spent most of his free time golfing in summers, bridge and bowling during the winter months. He was a long-time member of Rossmere Golf and Country Club. He participated in Golf Tournaments and even won a few.
He is fondly remembered by his buddies at the golf course and the retired fire fighters that he enjoyed coffees and the breakfast get togethers with.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the first responders who treated him.
