Valerie Veronica Courtoreille was born on February 14th, 1960, to Theresa & John James Courtoreille, in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta. She passed away at the age of 63, after a very long health battle at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta on March 5th, 2023.
Valerie loved everyone and treated them all as her own. She always said to never hold grudges because life’s too short not to say, “I love you”, even though they never wanted to say it back. Valerie loved the bush life and has taught her lifestyle to many people; her teachings will never go unnoticed. She had a great love for the outdoors and all of her family; brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and everyone’s children.
Valerie leaves to mourn her daughter: Shawna (Bruce) Faichney; niece, that she raised as her own daughter: Terry Lynn Whiteknife; Grandchildren: Shania, Monty, Tyrin and Shanon Faichney, Autumn, Joshua and Jonah Morin-Whiteknife. Great Grandchildren: Montrey, Tyanna, Montaevyn, Ryleigh, Montaya and Mckenzie Faichney; Sisters: Leona Courtoreille, Helena Welsh and Cecilia (Dan) MacInnis; Brothers: Steve (Caroline), Eddie (Claudia), Norman (Lynne), David, Stanley and Johnny (Lena); God-children: Caleda and Colton Courtoreille and Joanna Piche; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Valerie was predeceased by her parents: Theresa & John James Courtoreille; sister: Terry Courtoreille, brothers: Ray, Alec, Ernie, Eugene and Willie Courtoreille; nephews: Grant and Jordan Courtoreille and Ray Vermillion.
Cremation to follow the Celebration of Life & Funeral Service.
