Passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer at Garden Terrace LTC on April 8, 2023.
Valeria, in her 91st year, beloved wife of the late Joseph Kingsley for 59 years. Loving mother of Laurette (Micheal Pruschowsky) and Larry (Lynn). Grandmother to Erica Leoncini of New Jersey, Carl Pruschowsky of Virginia and Dawn Villeneuve of Ottawa. Great Grandmother to Cash Villeneuve and Colby and Charlie Pruschowsky. Dear daughter of the late Frank and Rose Gomulka. Dear sister of Clara Casper of Tennessee and of the late Mary Detloff, Julie Kosica, Anne Detloff, Henry Gomulka and Leonard Gomulka, all of Michigan. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Born in Detroit she started her career as a member of the Merchant Marines on the Detroit River, then as an employee of Loblaws and ended her career as a Public Servant working for the RCMP. Mom loved to dance and have fun so she enjoyed the times she spent with Dad who was a member of the Knights of Columbus at all of their many functions. In later years the fun continued while she was a resident of Orchard View Retirement Residence in Manotick and then Maplewood Retirement Community in Ottawa where she made several friends who helped to make her final years so enjoyable. She will be missed.
Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway), Ottawa on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 11 a.m.
A special thanks to the staff at Maplewood Retirement Community as well as the incredible staff at Garden Terrace LTC for the wonderful care given to our Mom in the past month.
