Una’s Obituary
COTTREAU, Eunice “Una” “Mame” Marie Anne – Age 78 of Wedgeport, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2023. Born in Yarmouth on January 7, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Marion (deViller) Doucette.
Una who was lovingly known by everyone as Mame, looked forward to getting her “livres” every week to do her crossword puzzles. She was usually found in her den curled up in her favorite chair with a blanket. There was always a pot of tea on the stove for the many visitors that would stop over for a yarn and of course lots of homemade baked goods. Everyone loved to come over around Christmas time to see the mountain of presents under the tree as Una loved to shop for all of her family and friends. One of her favorite things was baking with her grandkids, always letting them make a big mess in the kitchen. Sunday drives were something her and Eddie did every week along with her sister and brother-in-law, stopping to eat supper on their way home. Una and Eddie were married nearly 58 years but had been together for 64 years. The love they shared reflected in their family and friends and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Una is survived by her loving husband, Edward Cottreau, Wedgeport; children, André (Michelle) Cottreau and Rea (Gary) Saulnier, both of Wedgeport; Joy Boudreau (Chrisjon), Woods Harbour; siblings, Edith (Noah) Cottreau, Pinkney’s Point and two foster brothers, Johnny (Jeannie) deViller, Valley & Dennis (Jeannine) Fitzgerald, of Mass.; grandchildren, Jasmine (Steve) Muise, Lexie (Jamie) Olsen, Daniel (Brittany) Saulnier, Marcel (Sarah) Saulnier and Molly Boudreau; great grandchildren, Jake, Maddy, Parker, Paisley, Bodhi and baby Saulnier on the way. She was predeceased by a sister, Beverley in infancy; son-in-law, Ryan Boudreau; great grandchild, Denver Olsen.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023 in Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home in Wedgeport, with prayers at 8 p.m. Donations in Una’s memory can be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
