It is with profound sadness that the family of Tony Hickey announce his passing on April 5, 2023, with his loving family by his side, after a courageous battle with a rare thymic carcinoma.
Tony will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Jackie; sons, Terry (Charlez) and Travis (Emma); and four of the most treasured grandchildren, London, Kylian, Maverick and Ellis, who have all been left with memories of a brave and courageous role model, that will guide them through their lifetime.
Also left to mourn are his mother, Helen Hickey; brothers, Michael (Eileen), Frank (Sandra) and Nick (Lynn); sisters, Alice (Bob) and Tammy; as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Tony was predeceased by his father, Dominic Hickey; mother in law, Elaine Bennett; sister in law, Darlene Gillette; and brother in law, Dwayne Bennett.
Tony was a very proud and dignified man, with both his family and his work. Tony’s legacy is his contributions to his community, his work ethic and his love for his family and friends. Tony loved to work hard and play hard.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Tony’s family is grateful for the compassionate care of his medical support team, especially Dr. Michael Curran and chemotherapy nurse Angie Lawrence. Tony’s wish was that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the chemotherapy unit at Labrador-Grenfell Health.
