In loving memory of Thelma Patricia Hayes (nee McEachern) who passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Pioneer Manor. She was born in Windsor, Ontario to Nelson McEachern and Florence (McPhee). She was the beloved wife of Francis (Frank) Hayes, who predeceased her on February 12, 2017. They married in Espanola, Ontario in 1952. Much loved mother of Douglas (Wendy), Ann Contini (Gino) and Jim (Barbara) all of Sudbury and Robert (Helena) of Barrie. Predeceased in 2019 by her son David (Karen). Loving grandmother of David, Brian (Melissa), Andrew, Nicholas, Allison, Christopher, Amy, Erin, Timothy, and Ryan. Great-grandmother of Jacob and Joshua. Dear sister of Margaret Vettorel (Jim), Doran (Ange), Pat, Eileen McDowell (Ken), Barbara Marcellus (Leo) and Marion Lamothe (Gerald), all predeceased. Survived by her sister-in-law Lillian McEachern. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a faithful member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish and a long-time member of the Catholic Women’s League. Mom had a warm welcoming heart and was happiest when she was preparing big family dinners or spending time with her grandchildren. She forged many lasting relationships with friends and neighbours both in Minnow Lake and New Sudbury. Mom and dad spent many happy years at the camp on Ratter Lake hosting family and friends from near and far. She would never turn down a game of euchre or lunch at Swiss Chalet. A very special thank you to Dr. St Martin and the staff, nurses and PSW’s of Pioneer Manor, Cedar Unit for the care and compassion shown to our mom.
Resting at Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch Street, Sudbury. Visitation from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023, with parish prayers at 4:30 pm. Funeral Mass on Friday, February 17, 2023 at 10:00 am at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, 1250 Barrydowne Road, Sudbury. Interment to follow at the Civic Cemetery, Sudbury.
