Eleanor Tait (née Young), of Montreal, Quebec, passed away on December 27th, 2022 at the age of 89.
Eleanor was born to Mary Davies and Gilbert Young on May 9, 1933. She is predeceased by her husband Allan Tait, as well as her siblings Gerard Young and Shirley Fairholm (née Young)
Eleanor will be deeply missed by her children, Debra Tait (Manny Vardalas), Valerie Tait, Susan Tait, Carol Tait (David Bolton) and Sharon Tait (Oliver Habay). as well as her grandchildren Lauren Bolton (Tyler Hiscox), Alexa Vardalas (Conor King), Joshua Bolton, Janelle Habay and Coralie Habay and Great Grandmother to Charlie Hiscox. She will always be cherished by her numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
Mom/ Mommy/ Grandma/ Little Lady/ Auntie Eleanor/ Mike (to this day we don’t know why our father gave her that nickname)/ Mme. Old (play on her maiden name Young)/ My petite p’tante… will be remembered for her incredible strength, compassion, love of travel, her knitting skills, her love of music and dancing and her great sense of humor. She will mostly be remembered for being the best mother, grandmother and great grandmother anyone could ask for as she ALWAYS put her family first.
Our sincerest thanks to the incredible staff at the Grace Dart Extended Care Centre. You brought so much joy to our mother over the last few months. You cared for her with compassion and humor.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Always remember to follow her motto to “do the best you can do!”
