Obituary for
Sylvia “Susie” Poulin (Boychuk)
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Susie Poulin on April 2, 2023. Susie was predeceased by her father George Boychuk (1948), her mother Anna “Hinka” Popovich (1973), her husband Remi (1979), and her grandson Travis (2015). She came from a family of nine – all of whom also predeceased her: Vasyl “Will”, Mary, Mildred (Trohubiak), Jennie (Tokio), Evelyn (Smith), Tedodore (Ted), William (Bill), and John. Susie was the beloved wife of Remi for 30 memorable years and the proud mother of Kenneth (Barbara), Randy (Debra) and Barry. Next to her three sons, Susie was renowned for the love and high esteem she held for her grandchildren: Natalie Rosevear (Derek), David Poulin (Krista), Matthew Poulin (Maggie), Jamie Poulin (Heather), Shannon Richards (Jeff) and Adam Poulin as well as her great grandchildren: Riley, Daelin, Anthony, Hayden, Kaleb, Hunter, Taylor, Fischer, Kara, Roman, Koen, Martial, Avery, Lexie, Sophie, Everly, Sterling, and one great-great granddaughter, Avery. Gina Zgud was Susie’s sister soulmate and brought joy to Susie each time she visited. Susie worked at a variety of clerical jobs but her lengthiest position was at Timmins Housing. She loved music and dance and, at any party, she was the first on the dance floor and the last to leave. She particularly loved her line dancing, participating on a bowling team and walking everywhere and anywhere. She was an avid volunteer with the Lord’s Kitchen, with St Anthony of Padua CWL and a long-term volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and the Golden Manor. To her family and friends, she was famous for her homemade Ukrainian meals and no one visited her home without receiving a delightful dose of “Susie” hospitality. Everyone that knew her will remember her smile and that cheerful “Hello” greeting to anyone who crossed her path. Her family and friends also reminisce about her buoyant “yoohhoo” announcing her arrival! Special thanks to Dr. DiTullio and the Extendicare staff for their care and assistance during her stay there. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a special gathering will take place at a later date to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, remembrance donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Lord`s Kitchen or to a charity of choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to MIRON-WILSON FUNERAL HOME, Cremation and Reception Centre, 150 Balsam St. S., Timmins. To make online donations or condolences, please visit www.mironwilson.com
