Obituary of Stephen John Olexa
Stephen “Steve” Olexa passed away with his loving family at his side at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on May 12, 2023, at the age of 65.
Born in Toronto, Steve was the son of Jean (Semchuk) Olexa and the late John Olexa (2018).
Beloved husband and soul mate for over 40 years to Sandy Olexa (Winters).
Most loving girl-Dad to Jane (Luke) Pinsonneault and Hope (Kyle) DeMars.
Proud grandpa to Owen Stephen Pinsonneault.
Dear brother to Glenn (Leslie) Olexa and Diane (Bryan) Devries.
Son-in-law to Jan (Grey) Winters and the late Jim Winters (2021).
Brother-in-law to Tracy (Vince) Lally, Terry (late Gord 2022) Alexander and Judy (Bob) Dro.
Steve will also be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Steve touched the lives of many students during his 25 years as an educator at Chatham-Kent Secondary School. He enjoyed his summers off at his cottage in Rondeau Park with his family. True to his Toronto roots, Steve was a passionate Maple Leafs, Raptors, and Blue Jays fan. In retirement, Steve loved to play pickleball with his friends in Lighthouse Cove and wintering in Fort Myers, Florida. What brought Steve the most happiness was spending time with his wife, daughters, and grandson Owen.
In keeping with Steve’s wishes there will be a private graveside service. Donations made in memory of Steve to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
