Stephen Schultz
Stephen Schultz, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and master craftsman, passed away on July 23, 2023 having just celebrated his 63rd birthday. Born on July 9, 1960, in Weyburn, Stephen spent most of his life on a farm outside Saskatoon, where he built a legacy of love, hard work, and incredible craftsmanship.
Stephen was a graduate of SIAST College where he trained as a Journeyman Carpenter. Over the years, he built a successful career as a contractor. But it was in the quiet moments, amidst wood shavings and tools, where Stephen’s true passion came to life. He had a gift for woodworking, creating exquisite pieces of furniture that were not just objects, but stories and memories crafted in wood. His talent reached its pinnacle in the guitars he meticulously constructed, each one a testament to his dedication and artistry.
But Stephen’s best achievements weren’t about wood and nails. He was the very definition of kindness, integrity, and love. Always there for his family, he was a pillar of support, always willing to drop everything to help the one’s he loved. His bond with his beloved wife, Judy Schultz, was a testament to his devotion and commitment. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them, and the best days of his life were intertwined in the loving days they shared.
Alongside Judy, Stephen leaves behind his two sons, Ryan (Julia) and Morgan (Erica), and his cherished grandsons, Preston and Carter, and his sisters Connie (Nick) and Sandy (Gary), and his many cherished relatives and extended family. He was predeceased by his father Frank and his mother Claira.
Those who had the privilege to know Stephen understood that he was more than just a carpenter; He was a craftsman of life, a beacon of love, a builder of memories, and a man of deep affection and unwavering integrity.
The Funeral Mass to honour Stephen’s life will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Canora on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 2:00pm, followed by the burial which will take place at the Canora Cemetery and luncheon to follow.
While Stephen may have left this world, his legacy, crafted in wood and woven in love, will endure for generations.
Rest in peace, Stephen. Your life was a masterwork, and you will be deeply missed.

  1. Deepest sympathies to family and friends.
I am proud to be able to call Steve cousin, and have wonderful memories of being kids and farm life. Music was often a thing…Steve playing guitar, him and Aunt Clara singing, piano playing; playing records (“Lime in the Coconut”????????????, anyone?)
In recent years we had become reacquainted and I will always be grateful for that, and for some really nice visits, some with mom (Aunt Mary Lou) along. His knowledge and sharing of family history was always appreciated
And our family will always be grateful for the countless hours he so kindly spent with dad (Uncle Ronnie) in Saskatoon hospital years ago

Rest in peace, dear, kind Steve❤️
