Obituary
Sherran Elizabeth Colpitts-Bowbrick
January 16,1946 – August 13, 2023
Sherran E. Colpitts-Bowbrick, 77, long-time resident of Whitepine Road, Riverview, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully within the comforts of her home on Sunday, August 13, 2023. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late John and Madge (LeDrew) Colpitts.
Sherran was a retired elementary school teacher (35 years service), was an avid volunteer at the Airforce Veterans Club of Moncton, often baking multiple cakes, driving the van, and helping with Bingo for the vets. She was a loyal and faithful wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Family and friends were very important to her, she kept in touch with those near and far, her yearly Christmas letter will be missed. She loved to swim as often as she could, except on Fridays, Friday was her hair appointment day, “Don’t Mess with That.”
Sherran was a United Church member and attended church faithfully, attending Salisbury United after Colpitts United closed for services. We called her the “Queen of Fish Cakes.” She never disappointed always having them ready for when we arrived from Ottawa for our frequent visits. Muffins and pies were her specialties as well. She was a strong volunteer all her life and enjoyed reading, playing games, and doing crossword puzzles. Her day often began with the puzzle from the newspaper. Buddy her cat was her companion, we are sure her last thoughts were of him. She loved him so.
Sherran will be sadly missed by her loving sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn Colpitts Leger and Bonnie and Blair Stevens and their families; Andrew (Elizabeth) Stevens and their children Kate and William; Christopher (Adrienne) Stevens and their children Sparrow and Eden; John Leger (Anji Batacherryya) and their son Nathan; Christine Leger and her children Adam, Sage, and Grace Weston and her first husband David Wolfe and many cherished cousins.
In addition to her parents, Sherran was predeceased by her husband David Bowbrick (2009); brother, Jack and brother-in-law, Gerry.
A Service to Celebrate Sherran’s Life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11:00 am with her nephew Rev. Christopher Stevens leading the service. Reception to follow the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment to be held in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
