Obituary
The death occurred at the Moncton Hospital on August 3, 2023 of Sheldon Nicholson, beloved husband of Nadine Nicholson (nee Howatt). Sheldon was the son of the late Neil Nicholson and Mary MacKay of Hartsville, PEI and the last surviving family member. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Garth Nicholson (Donna), Heather Stewart (Sandy), Ensor Nicholson (Eleanor) and Kent Nicholson (Jennifer); grandchildren Jacob, Benjamin, Jennifer, Graham, Kimberly, Mark, Rebecca, Peter and Rachael and numerous great-grand-children, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Marie Nicholson and Linda Tower (Cliff).
Besides his parents, Sheldon was pre-deceased by his brothers Jonnie (Katie), Donald (Bell), Roy (Jean), Everett (Helen), Lloyd (Eileen), Leslie, Manford (Evelyn), Cecil, Wendall (Mary), infant brother, Gordon and sisters, Annie White (Edward), Mammie MacPherson (Donald), Jennie MacPherson (Angus), Bertha Douglas (George), and Shirley Craswell (Roy).
Sheldon was a long-standing member of Mount Royal United Church, Moncton where he was a cub leader for a number of years and served on church council as representative at Chignecto Presbytery. Sheldon loved sports, especially harness racing and his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
During his working career, Sheldon was employed by CN Marine/Marine Atlantic, retiring in 1985 after 42 years of service. In retirement he enjoyed golfing at Lakeside Golf and Country Club and curling at the Moncton Curlers Association.
Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) with visitation hours on Monday, August 7 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 11:00 am from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel with a Reception following the service. Interment to be held in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family extends heart felt thanks to the doctors, nurses and paramedics who provided compassionate care for Sheldon.
