With heavy hearts the family of Ruth Montandon née Kapp announces her passing in her ninety-fifth year on Tuesday January 31, 2023. She is mourned by her daughter Tina, grandchildren Matthew and Jesse (Melanie) Montandon, Maya (Ryan) and Thomas Bodrovics and her great grandchild Scout Quinn. She will be missed by her friends and family.
Ruth was an adventurous woman who at the age of 22 left Switzerland to visit her brother in Australia, first with a detour to Canada to visit her aunt. She never made it to Australia though as she fell in love with a Swiss farmer she met in Quebec.
Ruth gave generously of her time and her passion to many good causes. During her years of work at the Eastern Townships school board, children’s education in the language of their choice was her focus. She was a tireless volunteer for 20 years at Camp Garagona, a community organisation for people living with mental disabilities. Always an avid reader and literacy advocate, Ruth spent countless hours volunteering at the Bedford Library after her retirement. Ruth had a love of flowers, and a beautiful garden surrounded her house and filled the quite parts of her life with beauty.
C’est avec le cœur lourd que la famille de Mme Ruth Montandon née Kapp vous annonce son décès, à l’âge de 95 ans, le 31 janvier 2023. Elle laisse en deuil sa fille Tina, ses petits enfants Matthew et Jesse (Melanie) Montandon, Maya (Ryan) et Thomas Bodrovics et son arrière petite-fille Scout Quinn. Elle va manquer à sa grande famille, ses nombreux amis et collègues.
Une femme à l’esprit aventureuse, Ruth a quitté la Suisse à l’âge de 22 ans en direction de l’Australie ou vivait son frère, en prenant un détour via le Canada pour visiter sa tante. Elle ne s’est jamais rendue en Australie aillant tombé en amour avec un agriculteur Suisse au Québec.
Ruth a donné généreusement de son temps et de sa passion à plusieurs causes qui lui tenaient à cœur. Pendant sa carrière à la Commission scolaire Eastern Townships c’est pour les enfants et l’instruction dans la langue de choix des parents qu’elle luttait. Ruth était une bénévole dévouée du Camp Garagona pendant 20 ans au sein du conseil d’administration. Une grande lectrice toute sa vie, Ruth était très impliquée à la bibliothèque de Bedford pendant 15 ans après sa retraite. Elle adorait les fleurs. Son grand jardin témoignait de son pouce vert et des heures de paix et de joie qu’elle vivait à l’entretenir.
