Luelo, Rosemary Ellen
Ellen passed away peacefully at home on June 2nd with her loving husband of 52 years, Brad, and family by her side. She was born to parents Mary Elizabeth (Campbell) and Clifford K. Anderson on May 26, 1948. Her father passed when Ellen was eight years old and Mary remarried to Wray Irvine and together, they raised Ellen and sister, Doreen, in a rural setting.
Ellen was the cornerstone of her family and is survived by husband (Brad), daughters, Tara Pedersen (Mark), Tory Luelo (Steve Lawrenson), four loving grandchildren, Marley, Myles, Jackson and Noah and by one step grandson, Karsen. Surviving Ellen as well, is one beloved sister, Doreen Lunn (Ray) of Fingal, Ont. And two sisters-in-law, Dianne Kneller of Waterloo and Merilyn Flowers (White) of N. Ft. Myers, Fla. She is also fondly remembered by seven nieces and nephews who contributed so much to family get togethers and seasonal celebrations.
Ellen graduated from Central Elgin Collegiate Institute in St. Thomas and went on to earn her Bachelor’s of Arts degree, majoring in History, at the University of Waterloo. Her career spanned 33 years of teaching with the Waterloo County Board of Education, retiring in the year 2000; then she continued on to work with autistic children in the area of Special Education.
She was very active in her work at Zion United Church in New Hamburg, with Kitchener Heritage Probus and the University Women’s Club. Ellen held various positions in these organizations along with being a volunteer dog walker at the Kitchener Humane Society and working in the church’s community garden. She was also an active participant in The University of Waterloo’s Well-Fit Program which assists both present and past cancer patients along life’s journey.
Ellen loved to walk, read, play cards and golf, but her true love was spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren.
From Ellen, special thank-yous are extended to close friends, Lillian Addley (Darel), Dee Strype, Walli Kabucis, Carol Gilmore, Karen Langver, all members of the Kitchener Supper Club, the Stonecroft Book Club and the gang at the U. of W.
