The passing of Ronald Frank Reeves of Fredericton, NB, husband of E. Elaine (Hynes) Reeves occurred on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at home. Born on December 26, 1946 in Charlottetown, PE, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Beatrice (Brown) Reeves. Ron grew up on a fruit farm in Crossroads, PEI. He graduated from UNB with a degree in Civil Engineering, then worked for Atlas Construction Maritimes Ltd. from 1970-1994. In 1995, he started his own construction business, HR Civil Contractors Ltd., and retired in 2014. He was an Honorary Life Member of the NB Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association. In his younger years, Ron was a Boy Scout and travelled all over the world to Scout Jamborees. He was an avid downhill skier and was active in the ski community. He also played rugby and belonged to the Fredericton Loyalists Rugby Club.
In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by children, Jennifer Reeves (Scott Peth) of Denver, CO, Mike Reeves of Ottawa, ON and Malcolm Reeves (Val) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren, Evan and Eric Peth, Kai, Tay, Robyn and Julia Reeves; sisters, Mary Reeves of Calgary, AB and Jane Smith (Wayne) of Stratford, PE. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, David Reeves.
There will be a visitation at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4-7 pm; followed by a gathering of family and friends at the Fredericton Loyalists Rugby Club, 20 Cityview Avenue, at 8 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 11 am. For those who wish, a donation may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, Loyalists Legends Legacy Fund (Canadian Rugby Foundation) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
