March 26, 1955 –
April 22, 2023
It is with great sadness and heartbreak, that we announce the passing of Ron Cahute, Ukrainian-Canadian musician, singer, composer, and accordionist.
Ron was the leader and the ideological inspiration for the Burya Band. He released over 30 albums either with Burya or as a solo artist and worked on many other albums with famous artists. Ron’s music was also used by Ukrainian dance groups throughout the world.
Ron leaves behind his wife Binka Cahute, daughters Krystie Piers (Chris), Amanda Cahute, Jenny Cahute and Katrina Cahute (Andrew Makarenko). Ron was Gigi Ron to Zacharias, Jeremiah, Alivia, Sophia, Grayson and Jeremy and Dido Ron to Alex, Julia, Milana and Yana. As well as Unc to his nephews Mark Zubek and Kevin Zubek (Oum).
He will be truly missed by all who knew his sense of humour, brilliant artistry and kind heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UNF Foundation- In Memoriam Fund to provide for Children’s Programming.
