Obituary
Ron, 72, passed away suddenly the morning of Saturday, March 12. While cycling in Naples, Florida, his winter home, he was struck by a vehicle and died instantly doing something he loved.
A lifelong athlete, Ron was incredibly active. Since his retirement in 2010, he regularly biked, hiked, played pickleball, and travelled the world on adventure trips. Sadly, this September was booked to be one of the biggest adventures yet, a summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. He and Mary have travelled all over the globe meeting great people, seeking adventure and shortening their bucket list.
Ron was probably best known for his sense of humour. He lit up the room with laughter and always left people wanting more. He was also an incredibly dedicated and devoted husband and father. Despite a long list of friends his best friend was always his wife of 45 years, Mary. He built a life on the principles of family and fatherhood, treating people with the kind of love and care that left lasting impressions.
His second love was Georgian Bay. For 42 years he spent his time boating, kayaking, building docks and making memories with his family and friends at the cottage on Jones Island. This is where he was happiest and anyone who spent any time with him in this setting could feel his infectious energy.
His many years in his career with London Life (Great West Life) strongly impacted those around him. He chose management using his unique interpersonal style to connect and guide people to maximize their potential. Those employees so enjoyed his leadership that they packed a concert hall for his retirement party full of individuals eager to speak of the guidance they felt from him, and to finally return the many years of ribbing and roasting they experienced at his hand.
Ron is survived by his wife and lifelong best friend Mary. His two children, Tully (Magda, nee Potoczna) and Caitlin feel incredibly lost without him. He has two grandchildren, Maya and Henryk, who lit up his life. He is also survived by his younger sister Betty Leveque (Dave). He was predeceased by both his parents, Art and Bernice, and his older brother Don (Kathy). He leaves behind many friends in Parry Sound, Orillia and Naples.
