It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Roch St-Aubin on December 29, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Roch is so loved and missed by his wife Denise of 41 years, and his cherished children, Caleb and Ani.
Roch is fondly remembered by his brothers Grégoire (Pan), Benoit, Jean (Jana), his sisters Josette (Mark) and Danielle (Denis) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Dr. Daniel St-Aubin and Anna-Mai (née Sigouin).
Roch graduated from the University of Western Ontario school of dentistry in 1986. He was proud to work alongside his father in a dental practice which later became the Groupe Dentaire Sudbury Dental Group.
He was a passionate advocate for his profession at the local and provincial levels. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) from 2015 to 2021 and served on all Board committees. Prior to being elected to the Board of Directors, Roch was a long-time General Councillor for the ODA, representing dentists of the Sudbury and District Dental Society. He was a political contact dentist for the Sudbury and Nickel Belt ridings and a member of the ODA’s Political Action Committee, of which he also served as Chair. The ODA recently recognized his long-time dedication and commitment to the profession he loved by bestowing upon him the prestigious ODA Service Award.
Roch aimait sa famille plus que tout; fier de ses enfants, il voulait et était toujours présent dans leur vie. Il savait toujours comment remonter le moral dans les moments difficiles.
Roch lived life to the fullest; he loved sharing his passion for skiing and motorcycles with his family and friends. He had the uncanny ability to bring people together and to make everyone feel important, especially at camp, where he was the happiest. Everyone wanted to be his friend.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Doc Roch during visitation at the Cooperative Funeral Home, 222 Lasalle Blvd., Sudbury on Friday January 6, 2023, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Saint-Jean-de Brébeuf, 26 Kathleen St., Sudbury, on Saturday January 7, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Maison McCulloch Hospice would be appreciated. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the physicians and nurses at HSN and the hospice who took great care of him.
