Obituary of Robert Harry Johnston
ROBERT HARRY JOHNSTON
JOHNSTON, ROBERT “BOB” peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, on January 3, 2023.
Beloved husband of the late Carole Johnston (Coll) for 46 years, loving father of Lennie (Tracy), Shane and Derek (Kelly) Johnston and proud grandfather of Shelby and Cole Johnston. Brother to Bill Johnston (Margie) and Barb Hansen (late husband Harry) and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Bob was born in Chatham, Ontario, to the late Clayt and Agnes Johnston and grew up in Ridgetown, Ontario, where he will be fondly remembered by the many people he connected with throughout his 5 decades of entrepreneurial endeavours as a local business owner and many years of community service.
Bob created a wonderful legacy through a successful school bus service and car dealership, Clayt Johnston Motors, alongside his father and brother. Bob was also a town council member for many years and a volunteer firefighter for the Ridgetown Fire Department.
Bob loved cars, reading, traveling (including his annual trips to Florida), and a good game of golf; but most of all, he loved having fun with family and friends. His witty spirit, laughter and smile will be missed dearly.
