It is with great sadness the family announces that Robert Delaquis passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the age of 78 years.
Robert was born on March 10, 1944 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, MB. He was the eldest of four children, and only son of Maurice and Annette Delaquis.
Dad was passionate about community service and was a very active in Alcoholics Anonymous. He achieved 43 years of sobriety and was able to help many others who entered the program. Dad also enjoyed hockey, classic cars and military history. Dad served in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Robert worked at Manitoba Public Insurance as a claims supervisor and later on was an automobile salesman, a career he had a natural flair for. Dad was also a devoted grandfather, a role he loved more than any other.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are; his wife of 58 years, Jennifer; sons, Michael, Stephen and his partner Wendy and her children, Alicia, Leland, and Llyr; daughter Carol (Richard); as well as his three grandchildren, Avery, Taylor and Kylee.
Robert also leaves behind one sister, Evlyn, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Annette; and his sisters, Irma and Marie.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Robert may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or Alcoholics Anonymous.
