It is with great sadness, that the family of
Rita Violet Maunder announces her death at the Veteran’s
Health Unit, on May 10th,2023 at the age of 99.
Born in Brighton, England, she was a daughter of the late Albert and
Maud (Ayling) Scrase and wife of the late Robert Edmund
Maunder.
Rita will be lovingly remembered by her son
Stephen Maunder (Wilma) of Douglas, sister Doreen Maunder of
Fredericton, sister-in-law Edith Coates of Riverview, son-in-law Allan
Gillmor of St Stephen; 8 grandchildren, Gillian, Mark (Jenna), Monica
(John), Christina, Charlotte (Guillaume), Justin (Samantha), Denica
(Kyle) & Brandon (Brittany), (Howie); 20 great grandchildren
and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rita was predeceased by her daughter Susan
Gillmor, son Tony Maunder; grandchildren Gregory and Anna;
great-grandchild Charles and sister
Lilly.
Rita was a member of the United Church
Women’s League, Fredericton War Brides Association, the
Ladies Auxiliary Branch #4, and a veteran of the British Air
Force. She loved knitting, reading and she absolutely adored
all her many grandchildren.
No visitation by request. A funeral
service will be held at the Nashwaaksis United Church on Thursday, May
18th at 2pm, with the internment to follow
immediately afterward at the Fredericton Rural Cemetery
Extension. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
Cancer Society.
The family would like to express their
heartfelt thanks to the nurses and entire staff at the
Veteran’s Health
Unit.
