Obituary of Richard Eugene Merrett
On May 6, 2023, Richard Eugene Merrett of Tracy, NB, loving husband to Sandra Blanchette-Merrett, finished his last journey. After many struggles with health issues over the years, he passed away at the Fredericton Hospice House surrounded by his family.
A lifelong mechanic, Richard was forced to enjoy the quieter side of life after an accident in 2002. He was originally born in Blacks Harbor and lived most of his life in Geary, with a few years in Ontario, but he found his forever home in Tracy, NB, in 1998. Richard loved classic cars and Nascar racing, and was always ready to sit and chat with anyone.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sandy; step-daughter, Judy Daigle (Paul); grandchildren, Bella and Nicholas Blanchette; brothers, Michael Merrett (late Bonnie), Billy Merrett (Margie), and Steven Justason; sisters, Karen DeWolf-Cox (late Paul), Susan McDonald (Ralph), Alice Harnish (Gary), Wanda Ringuette (Pete), and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Alan and Margaret (Lloyd) Merrett, he is predeceased by his sister, Linda Caissie (Don); sister-in-law, Bonnie, and brother-in-law, Paul.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Oromocto Funeral Home. A visitation will be held for family and friends on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 6-8pm, at the Oromocto Funeral Home. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences are gratefully accepted at www.oromoctofh.com.
