Obituary of Reginald Wilson Curtis
Reginald Wilson Curtis of Fredericton and formerly of Miramichi, passed away at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital on June 9, 2023 only a month shy of his 75th birthday.
Born in Chatham, New Brunswick on July 9th, 1948, he was the son of the late Harrison (Hallie) Curtis and Jean Curtis (Coughlan).
Reg is survived by two brothers: Fred (Anne) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON and Gary of Fredericton, two nieces and a nephew, several grand nieces & nephews along with a number of Aunts & cousins.
He attended local schools until the age of 16, when he went to work in the Auto Parts Dept. of Lounsbury Co. in Chatham. After achieving his GED in 1976 he entered the UNB Law Program and graduated with honours in 1982. He clerked in John McAllister’s law firm until 1984 then moved to Melbourne, Australia where he obtained his Master’s degree.
Upon his return to New Brunswick in 1987, he took a position at Maritime Law Book in Fredericton and worked there until his retirement in 1997. After this he spent his time as a volunteer Hunter Safety Instructor and a registered Restricted Firearms Instructor until 2015.
Reg’s family appreciates the quality of care and attention he received from the doctors and nurses of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.
In honouring his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. A graveside service will be held in Miramichi later in the year. In lieu of flowers a donation to the Canadian Heart Association or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
