CADOGAN, Reginald
1951 – 2023
We are sad to announce the passing of Reginald Richard ‘Reg’ Cadogan of Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, April 17, 2023 at the age of 71 years. Reg was born in Edmonton, Alberta on June 10, 1951, to Eva and Colwyn Cadogan. Reg spent his childhood years in the Ponoka area. He spoke often about his job as a young boy at the Bowling Alley, setting up pins. He graduated from Ponoka High School in 1969. Reg worked at numerous jobs until he went to work at the Michener Centre. He was there for thirty-seven plus years. Reg enjoyed the clients he worked with and spoke warmly of them. Throughout Reg’s life, he loved his motorbikes; and he loved touring the country and around the city. Reg, Sylvia and Karlee loved staying at the Outwest Campground during their summers, so they could go quadding and fishing in the mountains. He went golfing every chance he got. Reg practiced his golfing in the back yard with soft golf balls. On any given day, you could usually find a golf ball or two in the gutters of the house. He really liked it when the leaf screens on the gutters were installed because his golf balls would stay on top of it. Reg’s guitar was always found sitting at the kitchen table, so he could grab it and sing a song or two. He loved Rock n’ Roll music but he sure could sing those old Merle Haggard songs. Through the years, Reg always had some type of exercise equipment, his favorite was lifting weights. Reg will be lovingly remembered by his loving partner, Sylvia Andersen of Red Deer Alberta, his best canine friend, Karlee; his sister, Sandy (Ken) Klatt of Ponoka, Alberta; his daughter, Lauri-Ann (John) of Ponoka, Alberta; his son, Wade (Deanna) of Bentley, Alberta; his five grandchildren, Taylor, Tenniel, Savanna, Jaylah and Brooklyn; and his five great grandchildren, Sydne, Jordyn, Willow, Nate and Jaylah. Reg will also be remembered fondly by all his special friends at the Oxbow Dog Park in Red Deer, Alberta, as well as numerous other family members. Reg was predeceased by his sister, Brenda; his parents, Eva and Colwyn Cadogan; and his best bud, Desi Cadogan. A Celebration of Reg’s Life will be held at the Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Reginald’s honor may be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at www.heartandstroke.ca.
